Amelie Ragdoll by ThreadBear Design

Our beautiful Amelie Autumn Rag doll is lovingly crafted with sustainability and childhood wellbeing at its heart. Made from a thoughtful variety of cotton-mix fabrics, she features a soft jersey body filled with new polyester stuffing for durability and huggable comfort, blonde woollen hair that adds natural texture, and delicately embroidered facial features that bring her gentle expression to life. Her knitted fabric ballet cardigan and voile skirt is finished off with pretty pink ballet shoes.

Fabric dolls like Amelie offer a more sustainable alternative to plastic fashion dolls. Because they are made from textile fibres rather than petroleum-based plastics, they generate less waste, avoid the brittleness and short lifespan of plastic toys, and can be cherished for many years. Their materials are kinder to the planet, easier to repair, and far less likely to contribute to the long-term environmental footprint associated with discarded plastic toys.

Beyond sustainability, dolls like Amelie play an important role in childhood development. Soft fabric dolls invite nurturing, empathy, and imaginative storytelling—core skills that help children understand emotions, relationships, and the world around them. Their gentle forms are comforting to hold, encouraging open-ended play rather than rigid, appearance-focused narratives. By engaging with a doll that feels warm and handmade, children develop fine motor skills, creativity, and a deeper sense of connection with their toys.

A good friend

Children love company. Someone to talk to, to comfort and console.

Rag dolls are the perfect friend. They can share good times in the home corner, cooking up a feast, or play the role of a dark and sinister villain at your play theatre's latest production.

A constant companion

A rag doll is a constant companion, someone to join you on adventures big and small.

Loyal and brave or fearful and timid, their personalities change to fit the story.

Imaginative play

The youngest children play in the here and now. They focus on what is in front of them and what it can do. But preschoolers have learnt to think symbolically - meaning one thing can stand in for another. This doll is a doctor, that one is an archaeologist. The one constant is the doll that they project these ideas onto.
